Head Coach Derek Irons
Head Coach Derek Irons enters his second year as Head Coach of CHHS baseball.
In 2009, Irons led the Trojans to the Class 5A, Area 3 Championship, a 28-12 overall record and a quarter-final round visit to the playoffs.
Named The Messenger Coach of the Year in '09, Irons came to Troy from Paul Bryant High School of Tuscaloosa, where he led his team to the Class 6A quarterfinals in 2007 and 2008.
Irons was also named the fellowship of Chistian Athletes Alabama Coach of the Year in 2008.
In '05 and '06, Irons was a pitching coach at Shades Valley in Birmingham.
Irons was a catcher at Dora High School, then played first base for two years at Bevil State.
He then obtained his undergraduate and masters' degrees from the University of Alabama before starting his coaching career.
Irons and his wife Leslie welcomed Luke into the world in 2009.

4th season as assistant baseball coach at CHHS, 12th year coaching overall
Serves as Youth Minister at Bush Memorial Baptist Church

Varsity Assistant Coach Trent Givens
Coach Givens comes to Charles Henderson after a successful tenure as assistant varsity
(2 years) and head junior varsity (3 years) softball coach at Tuscaloosa County High School in Northport, AL. While at TCHS, the varsity team won two area titles and reached the state finals in 2008 and 2009. The junior varsity also won two area titles.

The past two summers (2008 – 2009), Givens has served as hitting instructor for the University of Georgia softball camps. He also assisted with the Charles Henderson baseball camp in the summer of 2009.

Prior to coaching softball at TCHS, Givens spent four years (2002-2005) as an assistant varsity baseball coach at Tuscaloosa Academy. The Knights won multiple area titles and finished 3rd in the state in 2005.

Coach Givens has three degrees from the University of Alabama; M.A. in Secondary Education, Social Science (Aug. 2007), M.S. in Sport Management (Dec. 2004), and
B.A. in Public Relations (May 2003). He is currently the 8th grade Social Studies teacher at Charles Henderson Middle School. Givens is married with two children. His wife, Somer, is the Director of Institutional Research Planning and Effectiveness at Troy University. His oldest son, Miles, is three and youngest son, Matthew, is two. The Givens family are members at First Baptist Church, Troy.

JV Head Coach Sam Kitchens
Graduated from CHHS, attended Troy University. Coached youth baseball
since 1974, winning national youth coach of the year award once. Won two
World Series championships in Dixie Boys (2004& 2009). Coached JV
baseball in 1999,2008 and 2009. Married to Roxie for 21 years and one
son LaBron and one daughter Samantha. Attend Bush Memorial Baptist
church.

9th Grade Coach Robin Snyder
Robin Snyder enters his third season as the 9th Grade Baseball Team coach. Coach Snyder also coached the JV Baseball Team for 2 years. He has been coaching at Charles Henderson for the past 13 years. He is also the Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Charles Henderson Middle School. He has served in this position for the past 6 seasons. Prior to becoming the Head Coach and AD he was an assistant coach and head boys’ basketball coach at CHMS. Coach Snyder spent his first season teaching and coaching at Ariton High School, where he served as the Head JV football coach, Head JV basketball coach, and Assistant Varsity Softball coach (1A State Runner-Ups).
Coach Snyder is a graduate of Goshen High School where was a Four year letterman in both football and baseball. Coach Snyder received his Undergraduate and Graduate degrees from Troy University. He is married to the former Tracy Spivey, a graduate of Charles Henderson HS and Auburn University. They have four wonderful children; Rose (10 years old & a 4th grader at TES), Briann & Braden (5 year old twins), and Parks (3 years old).
